For nearly
a decade Michael Mauro has served as Auditor for Polk County, the largest of
Iowa’s 99 counties. Prior to his election as Auditor, he worked in the office –
climbing his way up the ladder and eventually being elected Auditor.

time in office, he has focused on streamlining services and making the office
more user-friendly for the residents of Polk County.
He believes in making
government work for citizens and using technology to simplify services, cut

was one of the first Auditor’s in the nation to make voter registration and
absentee ballot request forms available online.
As a
former high school government teacher, coach and referee, Mauro has shown his
commitment to Iowa's youth. Mauro visits high schools and makes his voting
equipment and staff available for area high school elections for student council
and prom.
