Mauro
Fundraising tops $89,000 from 399 Individuals
Des Moines, IA –
Secretary of State candidate, Polk County Auditor Michael Mauro,
raised $89,484 and had $79,713 cash on-hand at the close 2005. The
contributions come from 399 individuals.
“I am completely
humbled by the tremendous support for my candidacy,” said Mauro.
“Our campaign to bring leadership, experience and a proven record of
accomplishment to the Secretary of State’s office is on track.”
Since announcing
his candidacy, Mauro has visited nearly half of the state’s 99
counties meeting with supporters, activists and community leaders.
Michael Mauro has
served as Auditor in Polk County for nearly a decade. He believes
in making government work for citizens and using technology to
simplify services, cut costs and eliminate red tape for people
seeking assistance from his office. He was one of the first
Auditor’s in the nation to make voter registration and absentee
ballot request forms available online.
As a former high
school government teacher, coach and referee, Mauro has shown his
commitment to Iowa's youth. Mauro visits high schools and makes his
voting equipment and staff available for area high school elections
for student council and prom.
Michael lives in
Des Moines with his wife Dorothy (Fischer) Mauro. They have three
sons and three grandchildren.
