Mauro Fundraising tops $89,000 from 399 Individuals

Des Moines, IA – Secretary of State candidate, Polk County Auditor Michael Mauro, raised $89,484 and had $79,713 cash on-hand at the close 2005.  The contributions come from 399 individuals.

“I am completely humbled by the tremendous support for my candidacy,” said Mauro.  “Our campaign to bring leadership, experience and a proven record of accomplishment to the Secretary of State’s office is on track.”

Since announcing his candidacy, Mauro has visited nearly half of the state’s 99 counties meeting with supporters, activists and community leaders.

Michael Mauro has served as Auditor in Polk County for nearly a decade.  He believes in making government work for citizens and using technology to simplify services, cut costs and eliminate red tape for people seeking assistance from his office.  He was one of the first Auditor’s in the nation to make voter registration and absentee ballot request forms available online.

As a former high school government teacher, coach and referee, Mauro has shown his commitment to Iowa's youth. Mauro visits high schools and makes his voting equipment and staff available for area high school elections for student council and prom.

Michael lives in Des Moines with his wife Dorothy (Fischer) Mauro.  They have three sons and three grandchildren.
